This interactive presentation will equip health educators with practical strategies for implementing and assessing new concepts introduced in the 2024 SHAPE America National Health Education Standards. Join us in learning how to transition your instruction with the new standards and performance indicators by putting them into practice.
Kentucky high school students are facing a rising obesity crisis, with many struggling to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. This session provides practical, hands-on strategies to help educators guide students toward better health decisions that will last beyond high school. We teach Health Based Decision making but we don't always assess it how we should. We will teach refusal skills but the assess on their knowledge of drugs and alcohol. By utilizing technology where we can and connecting with students at their level we can also work on creating more participation and buy in.
