Join Mary McCarley, SHAPE America’s Southern District Health Teacher of the Year and Health Education Content Specialist with Goodheart-Willcox, and Allen McCaskill, KY Educational Consultant with Goodheart-Willcox, as they share instructional strategies to engage students in practicing health skills. From warm up activities to in-class assessments and exit tickets, participants will leave with instructional best practices and health assessments for their teacher toolbox as well as complimentary access to our updated 2025 skills-based middle and high school health program.

Join us in learning how to transition your instruction with the new standards and performance indicators by putting them into practice.

Kentucky high school students are facing a rising obesity crisis, with many struggling to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. This session provides practical, hands-on strategies to help educators guide students toward better health decisions that will last beyond high school. We teach Health Based Decision making but we don't always assess it how we should. We will teach refusal skills but the assess on their knowledge of drugs and alcohol. By utilizing technology where we can and connecting with students at their level we can also work on creating more participation and buy in.

This interactive session is designed to provide Health Ed professionals with practical strategies to enhance their teaching, engage students, and promote staff wellness. Participants will leave with actionable ideas to implement immediately in their classrooms and schools.
